About SunshineMD

Why SunshineMD was founded

SunshineMD was founded in 2021 to bring structure and clarity to a system long defined by complexity.

The company was formed by Dr. Harold E. Glass, Andy Guy, Matthew Morano and Helene Seydoux, with a shared belief that publicly mandated data could be used more effectively to understand investigator experience and performance in U.S. clinical trials.

Applying public data in a new way

That idea centered on the Physician Payments Sunshine Act. By applying rigorous data methods to this information, the founding team created empirically based measures of investigator performance and experience across a near-census of U.S. investigators, enabling sponsors and CROs to access clearer market intelligence and make more informed decisions.

Dr. Glass was a retired professor at the University of the Sciences and a widely published expert in new drug development. He founded and sold two companies, DataEdge and TTC, LLC, and was an early pioneer in clinical trial benchmarking. Several of the data applications he helped create—including GrantPlan and PICAS—remain widely used across the drug development industry today.

Building on deep expertise

Andy Guy, Matthew Morano and Helene Seydoux bring deep experience in software and marketing technology. Prior to SunshineMD, they co-founded Torchlight Technology Group, a digital marketing technology firm serving the insurtech sector, which was later acquired by Independence Holding Company.

Today, SunshineMD continues this work by applying data-driven rigor to one of the most consequential decisions in clinical development: investigator selection.
